A modern apartment, with a minimalist design, but still with personality. We managed to combine natural materials, with dramatic, maybe even industrial accents and integrate the wallpaper as a star material that brings dynamism and elegance to the space.

Together with a repetitive motif of lines, found in the custom-made “shutters” for the kitchen, even in the pattern of the wallpaper in the living area and continuing with the aluminum blinds that superbly filter natural light into the interior. All elements create a balance between aesthetics and functionality, supporting the overall vision.

The living area reflects an integration of multiple functions: hidden storage, living area, an occasional study desk, a bar area, breakfast and the open kitchen. In search of solutions, we took the plan as such and defined the niches that helped us obtain storage spaces and, at the same time, visual accuracy in the end. The positioning of the kitchen dictated a perspective end. Thus, it was treated as a “closed” volume, but at the same time open with the help of “shutters” and the bar – the dining area.

In terms of color and materials, we focused on pleasant shades of oak, beiges and greiges, as well as the light shade of the sofa, chosen especially against the background of the closed kitchen. We could say that it is a masculine stylistic path, but balanced by the choice of wallpaper (existing both in the living area and in the kitchen and bedroom). In terms of furniture, in the hallway we chose black handles along the entire length of the fronts to give a visual rhythm, while in the living room area we opted not to apply handles, preferring a play of volume – open shelves vs. hidden storage.

In the bedroom, everything has a continuity with the living area in terms of colors and materiality. However, because its dimensions are not the most generous, we resorted to various tricks, such as the glass applied to the wardrobe fronts, to create spatial depth. The black lighting fixtures, the background wallpaper and the dramatic paints framed the picture of the night area. We created a stereotomy through the details of the headboard of the double bed and the decorative paint associated with metallic profiles in gold finish, different angles that capture the drawing of tree branches.

We emphasize through the “elephant” texture of the decorative paint, the wallpaper chosen for the office, fluid, organic shapes at a decorative level such as the mirrors in the living area, the ceramic with the veining proposed for the TV area, all choices reinforcing the direction, stylistics and conceptuality from which we started.

Along with the safe association between anthracite and the shade of wood, the beiges and greiges selected for materiality, the wallpaper can be considered the finish that gave originality to the space and the entire concept. The kitchen is “a volume within a volume” – a volume from a compositional point of view, well-framed and delimited in an open space, that is, in the per-total volume. We took advantage of the lowered ceiling and continued with the custom-made shutters, which we really liked.

Linear geometry is found in the details: the wallpaper in the living area represents abstract art, in which this rectilinear movement is observed; the leg of the coffee table is created from lines; the “lines” of the metal roller blinds beautifully filter the light, creating, depending on their position, interesting shadows, which are mainly projected onto the sofa.
