TMB Studio Design – The space that represents us

Our office reflects the TMB Studio Design philosophy: a balanced mix of natural materials and modern technologies, where elegance and functionality coexist harmoniously. We wanted to create a space that stimulates the senses and becomes our calling card.

Finding the right location was a challenge, as we ruled out hostile office spaces or the limitations imposed by residential buildings from the start. In the end, we discovered a new building in a representative area of Bucharest, where we were able to transform the space according to our vision.

For this project, we did not make renderings, as we wanted to start the construction site as quickly as possible. We translated the concept directly into technical design and purchase lists, assuming an intense process, which required daily presence on the site. It was a unique experience, in which we juggled the role of architect and beneficiary, but it was worth the effort, because we created a place that defines and inspires us.

The concept and organization of space

The lounge area is dominated by an organically shaped modular sofa that invites socializing, and a bioethanol fireplace, integrated into a distinct architectural structure. Black plays a strong accent role in the metal partitions, exposed beams and lighting fixtures, contributing to a modern aesthetic with a dramatic touch.

Materials and aesthetics

The predominant colors are black, gray and beige, with accents of emerald green, copper-terracotta and burgundy for depth. Surfaces vary between matte and glossy, metallic textures combine with dark wood and elements made of concrete or composite stone.

Metal-framed glass, used for sliding and folding partitions, maintains the feeling of openness while providing privacy. Architectural lighting plays a key role, highlighting the three-dimensional design of the walls, textured panels and geometric elements.

Statement pieces, such as the sculptural green sofa or the comfortable armchair in the relaxation area, give personality to the space. The black silhouette holding light globes adds a distinct artistic accent. Round and organic surfaces, such as the work table and wall decor, contrast elegantly with the rigid lines of the metal structures.

CONCLUSION

This design was the biggest challenge for me, being both the architect and the beneficiary of the project. All the effort was worth it, because the office is not just a workplace, but a space that inspires and supports our creativity.

My advice: We spend a lot of time at the office, so we need to invest in creating an environment that stimulates us and represents us. A well-thought-out space not only improves productivity, but also becomes an extension of our professional identity.
Architect’s advice: we spend far too much time at the office to not value its design, and for me the environment that surrounds me is necessary to inspire me, to invite me into the creative universe that I constantly need. It also functions as a basic tool in relation to our clients.

It was the biggest challenge for me: to successfully combine the role of architect and the role of beneficiary at the same time, but the whole process was worth it.
